Newborn and Postpartum Care in Oregon

Sometimes we’re called night nannies, baby nurses, or newborn care specialists. We call ourselves Postpartum Doulas.

What do we do?

Well, our first priority is to make sure the adults in the home are okay. Have you eaten? Have you showered? Have you slept? How are you emotionally? Do you have questions around caring for your baby? What can we do to get you what you need?

Often, in order to get you what you need, we provide care for your baby. This could be 4 hour shifts, 6 hour shifts or 8 hour shifts during the day in which we help with the daytime routine that allows you to take a deep breath. In the early days, that could mean helping with each latch during breastfeeding. It could be attending early doctor appointments with you because leaving the house feels overwhelming. Or maybe it’s assisting with the physical aspects of cesarean recovery when a tiny human also needs care and your partner needs to return to work.

For many of our clients, we provide overnight support. It looks like us showing up around 9pm or 10pm. We get an overview of how the day was and touch base on how YOU are. Then you get to go sleep. We take over care of the baby until morning. If you’re breastfeeding, we bring baby to you to feed and then you get to go right back to sleep.

….because we know how important sleep is to your physical and emotional recovery.

Our team is certified and experienced. If vaccination is important to you, that is a request we are also able to meet in all of our service areas.
