Breastfeeding is a journey and can be a very challenging road to navigate.

For some mothers breastfeeding is a breeze. They simply put baby to breast and “bam” perfect latch and the rest is history.

But, for most mothers, it is a journey of cracked and bleeding nipples, pain, frustration, hungry babies and pure exhaustion. For those women that have struggled with breastfeeding, it can feel very defeating and overwhelming.

​​The answer for YOU is personal. Finding in-person support to look at your breasts, your baby’s mouth/latch, etc, is a priority in reaching a feeding relationship that feels successful.

These resources in the Salem, Oregon, area are a great place to start. And it’s 100% ALWAYS okay to reach out for help.


Salem Health- Salem location

Offers a “mom and me” lactation support group on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1-2:30 pm in the Community Health Education Center (CHEC) at Salem Health campus Bldg D, first floor classroom 2. This is a great place to connect with a lactation specialist, with no appointment necessary. This support group is free of charge. Simply show up!


Salem Health lactation consultants also offer one on one consultations at a fee. This is a good option if your child is not a patient at one of the local pediatric clinics in Salem. (503)814-4539.

Thursdays 1-2:30 at Salem Health in Dallas.

Salem Pediatric Clinic

The Salem Pediatric clinic has 3 IBCLCs on staff. If your child is a patient with the clinic, call the office (503-362-2481) and they can get you set up for a one on one appointment with a consultant.


Childhood Health Associates of Salem

Childhood health clinic also has an IBCLC on staff. If your child is a patient with this clinic, call the office (503-364-2181) and set up with a one on one appointment.


Bloom Lactation

Megan Dunn is an IBCLC that has a private practice. This gives her the flexibility to provide lactation support in the comfort of your own home.
